Abstract

MONTEIRO, Luiza Pereira  and  SCHILLING, Flavia Inês. 'Counseling authority ' and the family in crisis: how do you educate?. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2013, vol.38, n.1, pp.235-259. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v38i1.18896.

We understand that the so-called 'authority crisis', affecting fathers, mothers and teachers, is a dislocation of the concept of authority itself at the present. The concept of authority has been gradually shifting from the field of traditional knowledge and practice to a more diffuse area, formed in different ways from the knowledge of specialists. It is an historical movement, detected and already analyzed at the time the 'bourgeois social order' was instituted, at the time when the great institutions of modernity, such as the school were set up. This was the moment when the specialist institutions, the legal rational authorities, studied by Max Weber arrived on the scene. The study argues that nowadays, as a reflection on the current social transformations, there has been a dislocation from these forms of authority to other more diffuse forms, known as 'counseling authorities', which participate in the market in the form of a 'specialist' consultancy and succeed one another in the media at an alarming rate.
