This paper reflects on the sociology of childhood mediated by socioanthropological issues relevant to research on childhood and children. The first part is a brief overview of researches in the northern hemisphere, their approaches and different paths. The second part presents some brief remarks on Brazilian production, its limits, perspectives and conceptualizations. The third part highlights the challenges and the theoretical and methodological paths in the field, recognizing their inexhaustibity. Finally, some emerging ideas are highlighted and the possibilities for dialogue on the education of children are succintly presented.
