Abstract

SOUZA, André Barcellos Carlos de. Art, Childhood And Cultural Industry. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2014, vol.39, n.1, pp.129-143. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v39i1.27172.

This paper focuses on art as a commodity and as knowledge, problematized through the concepts of childhood and the cultural industry. It is clear that the conditions of production and reception of artistic goods are ruled by capitalism. Childhood, a major theme in this text, was recognized concomitantly with the emergence, consolidation and development of capitalism, with its concepts of freedom and the resignification of human needs. Therefore, children need to be educated in certain conditions and essential formative possibilities must be provided. The content is personalized through the socialization processes, which contribute to autonomy and emancipation, and present art as a possibility.

Keywords : Art; Childhood; Cultural Industry; Education.
