Abstract

TAVARES JR., Fernando  and  SCOTON, Roberta. Education, media and ICT: reflecti ons on the role of teaching. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2014, vol.39, n.3, pp.493-510. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v39i3.28441.

New media technologies have brought new potential to social processes but also new challenges. Networking has led to the emergence of a new epistemological community with genuine elements and productive processes. The didactic implications of these transformations are analyzed, bearing in mind the proposal of new arguments to discuss the roles and challenges to teaching and the school, because of the social and cultural transformations typical of the emergence of the information society, whose analysis is added to that of the actors and their new roles and challenges presented to the school institution. It is seen that it is not the new ICT s which "modernize" education but rather a new epistemological concept, which leads to transformative educational praxis.
