Abstract

This article is part of the ongoing research entitled “Professional Education and the retention of quilombola students in the IFRN: an analysis beyond Law 12.711 / 2012”. The objective is to carry out research on academic production about school education for young quilombolas in Brazil. The methodology used was the search on the website of the Portal of Periodicals of CAPES with the descriptors “quilombola education” and “quilombola students” and “quilombola school education”. We rescued the concepts of race, ethnicity and quilombo, as well as a brief discussion about the history of black education in the country. As a conclusion, we highlight the role of the Black Movement in the search for affirmation of rights in the educational dimension.
