Abstract

MARQUES, Isabel M. M. de Azevedo. Dança e educação. Rev. Fac. Educ. [online]. 1990, vol.16, n.1-2, pp.05-22. ISSN 0102-2555.

The importance of dance as part of the individuals education has been recognized in the past few years by professionals in the fields of both, education and dance. Nevertheless, the Brazilian education system has not yet succeeded in providing its students with and education in which their bodies, their aesthetic and social values could be educated through dance. It could be argued that introducing dance into the Brazilian school system basically depends in overcoming prejudices and the dualism between the body and mind, on better defining dance and its educational value and, most of all, it depends on being able to train teachers capable of committing themselves to the countries social land cultural development.

Keywords : Dance; Education; Dualism; Values; Movement; Expression; Teaching; Body; Life.
