This text consists on the study of the course of Universidade e Sociedade journal, published half - yearly by ANDES - SINDICATO NACIONAL, which totals 8 numbers until 1995. During these 4 years, the journal followed what was foreseen in the editorial of its first number: it combined “the necessary political profile, which identifies it whit the syndical organization that supports the publication, with the also necessary scientific statute”, becoming an indispensable source to the study of Brazilian and foreign reality of the higher educational systems.
