This paper presents a new methodological approach to the teaching of History in elementary schools. It is based upon concepts emerging from the relation between knowledge and power in school and on the concepts of time and space, wich differ from those presents in the current practices. It also discusses the implementation of this new approach as basic to History teaching. Finally the paper makes suggestions for the adequate use of the methodology proposed.
