The present article is divided in two parts. In the first one, we tried to systematize some of the main reflections released in the literature about social movements in Brazil (during the 70s and 80s). In the second part, we aimed to extract, from concluded researches, some of the themes that are subjacent to the experiences lived in the interior of the social movements in Belo Horizonte in that period, such as: social and political education in the actions related to social movements; participation of the women and the fight for their rights. At the end, we aimed to systematize some reflections that had been made along the text.
