Abstract

VIEIRA, Maria Clarisse. Possible impacts of the evaluation policy on young people and adult education: ENCEJJA (2002) in question. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2006, n.43, pp.95-110. ISSN 0102-4698.

This article discusses the proposal of national young people and adult evaluation called Exame Nacional de Certificação de Competências da Educação de Jovens e Adultos - Encceja (National Examination of Certification of Competencies of young people and adult education). At first, it contextualizes the education of young people and adults within the teaching reform public policy implemented in Brazil from the 1990’s on. It analyzes the main documents relative to Encceja and discusses the possible meanings of its implementation within the Brazilian educational policy. Based on authors who deal with education and work, it surveys the centrality of the national evaluation processes and the meanings of competence as a notion underlying Encceja.

Keywords : Educational Policy; Young People and Adult Education; National Evaluation System.
