The aim of this study is to present the first Mathematics textbook published in São Paulo as a consequence of the creation of the discipline in Rio de Janeiro in the context of the dispute between publishers from these two cities involving Colégio Pedro II’s books themselves. The presentation of the textbook is based on the field of the History of School Subjects and its major representative, André Chervel, and also on APER (Euclides Roxo Personal Archive) as a complementary source to better understand the publication of the first Mathematics textbook and its context in Brazil.
