In the plural discussion concerning youth, some consensus can be found such as the existence of a tensioned relationship between this social group and school. In this paper, we discuss the changes perceived by a group of subjects between 15 and 18 years old in their actions and values from their involvement in a Program of Integral Education - Integrated School Program (PEI) - in the municipality of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais - Brazil. From the viewpoint of these subjects, the data indicate that participating in these activities promotes significant changes in their attitudes and values, with repercussions in many aspects of their lives, such as socialization, the world of work and their school experiences.
