Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Anandra Santos Ribeiro de  and  SILVA, Ivair Ramos. SOCIAL INCLUSION POLICIES IN BRAZILIAN HIGHER EDUCATION: A STUDY ON THE SOCIOECONOMIC PROFILE OF STUDENTS IN THE YEARS 2010-2012. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2017, vol.33, e153900.  Epub Mar 30, 2017. ISSN 1982-6621.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0102-4698153900.

Over the years, the Brazilian higher education has been characterized as exclusive. To combat this reality, there were several actions of accessibility expansion adopted by the Federal Government, enabling the historically excluded population could also pass to attend it. Therefore, this paper proposes to investigate the democratization of Brazilian high education based on socioeconomic profile of students. For this, we analyzed the socioeconomic characteristics of Brazilian university in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012, from microdata provided by the National Institute of Educational Studies Anisio Teixeira (Inep). Data analysis has used techniques as descriptive analysis and multivariate statistical methods. It was noticed a greater inclusion of less favored social classes of students after the creation of social inclusion programs in higher education. However, we verify the presence of some markers that show democratization is still under construction.
