Abstract

PASSOS, Carolina Sertã  and  BARBOSA, Altemir José Gonçalves. TALENT DEVELOPMENT IN BRAZIL: AN ANALYSIS OF PROGRAMS. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2017, vol.33, e143211.  Epub Mar 14, 2017. ISSN 1982-6621.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0102-4698143211.

To analize of the talent development in Brazil, 50 participants - students, teachers and coordinators - from 17 programs for individuals with talents (PIT) were interviewed. A content analysis showed that the programs have predominantly private nature and are located in the southeastern region of the Federation. Most of those attended by the services have studied in public schools and attend primary school also. Teachers are the key professionals involved in this process. Enrichment is the most commonly used development strategy. Despite the advances of the scientific production about talent developing, one realizes that there are still few PIT in the country. Results denote the need for enhancing the public policies for education for individuals with talent. The limitations and implications of the studies are considered and one recommends additional studies.
