FRITZEN, Maristela Pereira  e  DE SOUZA NAZARO, Ana Carolina. ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE TAUGHT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS: DISCUSSION FROM AN INTERCULTURAL SCENARIO. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2018, vol.34, e162012.  Epub 20-Set-2018. ISSN 1982-6621.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0102-4698162012.

This article aims to discuss partial data of a more comprehensive survey that analyzed the offer of additional languages in the primary education, in a scenario historically characterized by intercultural aspects: the Micro-region of Blumenau, Santa Catarina. Previous studies have pointed the presence of immigration languages in the region, which justifies the need of tracing a profile of languages offered in the school curriculum of the public education system. The methodological procedures included a data survey through questionnaire in the fifteen cities that compose the region. From this survey, it was possible to recognize each city situation regarding the languages offered in schools and the latest local linguistic policies. The records’ analysis shows small investment in the immigration languages still present in the micro-region, as well as the need to discuss the role of the school while facing contemporary multilingualism.
