Abstract

COSTA-MACIEL, Débora Amorim Gomes da  and  BILRO, Fabrini Katrine da Silva. WHAT IS ORALITY TEACHING? ANALYSIS OF PROPOSALS PRESENTED IN TEACHING BOOKS FOR BASIC EDUCATION’S EARLY YEARS. Educ. Rev. [online]. 2018, vol.34, e165712.  Epub Sep 20, 2018. ISSN 1982-6621.  https://doi.org/10.1590/0102-4698165712.

The documents that guide Portuguese language teaching incorporate the understanding that orality is an object to be taught and learned. But how textbooks ensure the systematization of that learning axis? In this article, we investigated oral genres’ repertoire in five Portuguese textbook collections, destined for Elementary School. We analyze the activities presented in two of the five collections investigated, treating them in a predominantly qualitative way, using elements of the categorical content analysis technique. The theoretical framework is anchored in the conception of language as interaction and understanding of orality as a teaching-learning object. The activities analyzed showed a teaching proposal that allows language practices for students’ formation as citizens, together with the development of oral expression and the use of formal language in various social practices.
