Abstract

CASTRO, Ramón Peña. School and market: the school in light of the institutionalization of unemployment and precariousness in a society driven by the economy. Perspectiva [online]. 2004, vol.22, n.01, pp.79-92. ISSN 0102-5473.

The paper analyses the relationships between education, training and employment in globalised capitalism. It intends to demonstrate the incompatibility between the depreciation of labour caused by the world wide autocratic domination of capital. The paper questions the supposed importance of education in the so-called society of knowledge; and criticises the businessapproach to public education inspired by the technological and economical determinism manifest in several ideological formulas that profess to be original. The paper also reflects upon the new centrality of labour and new rules for training, and analyses the difference between worker training and the autocratic training for and classification of employment conducted by companies.

Keywords : Common Sense; Unemployment; Career Education.
