Abstract

HORTA, José Silvério Baia. Assessment of graduate programs: the standpoint of the coordinators. Perspectiva [online]. 2006, vol.24, n.01, pp.19-47. ISSN 0102-5473.

Criticisms and suggestions provided to CAPES (The National Council for the Improvement of Higher Education) by the coordinators of Graduate Programs, from all fields, in the computer program “Coleta CAPES / 2004”, were the primary source for this article. The information collected was divided into five groups: criticisms of the homogenizing nature of the model; criticisms of the emphasis on quantity and productivity; criticisms of the absence of indicators for social indicators for the Programs’ activities and proposals to introduce these indicators; international insertion and consequences of the assessment. In each of the groups, these criticisms and suggestions were exemplified and compared with previous studies about the same subject and with official documents from CAPES.
