This paper presents a retrospective view on research about curriculum undertaken in Portugal over the last 15 years. It discusses the concept of curriculum development, curriculum studies research on education within the context of the social sciences. It concludes that research on curriculum is deeply influenced by politics’ cycle and that issues related to curriculum organization, reform and evaluation are the most investigated ones in the literature.
