Abstract

This article discusses the typical literacies of contemporaneity, in order to,then, focus attention on school literacies, based on the profile of collections of texts from the textbook of the Portuguese Language (LDP - Livro Didático de Língua Portuguesa) that circulated at public elementary schools in Brazil (1st to 4th grade), from 2004 to 2009. The analysis of these collections in terms of represented genres and their spheres of movement, discusses the possible school literacies from these texts. The results show that the LDP is still far from incorporating the required literacies in the contemporaneity.
