Abstract

DEBUS, Eliane. As vozes das margens na literatura de recepção infantil e juvenil: reflexões sobre a produção de Georgina Martins. Perspectiva [online]. 2012, vol.30, n.03, pp.969-984. ISSN 0102-5473.

The literature concerning reception by children and youth has traditionally not considered polemical issues such as social inequality, homosexuality and racial prejudice. To analyze these issues would certainly require “dealing” with a language that considers these interlocutors. This article presents the reading of three books by Georgina Martins: O menino que não se chamava João e a menina que não se chamava Maria (1999) (The Boy not named João and girl not named Maria), No olho da rua: historinhas quase tristes (From the perspective of the street: nearly sad stories) (2004) and Uma maré de desejos (A Tide of Desires) (2005), which bring to light reflections on literary production that in a sensitive manner presents the reader the “voices of the margins” (HALL, 2006), without hiding the sorrows and blemishes caused by the social inequalities faced by the child characters of these narratives. The approximation with narratives that escape the repertoire that has been crystalized for the child public contributes to the formation of readers who are more committed and sensitive to the Other.

Keywords : Literature for Children and Youth; Social Inequalities; Reader.
