The purpose of this article, based on the outcomes of an qualitative research project of a descriptive-analytical nature, is to discuss a partnership between a university and public schools (U-PS) established to prepare practicing K-4 schoolteachers to act as teacher tutors (TTs) of students of an online teacher education program. Preliminary results point to a positive impact on the professional and personal lives of both the participating schoolteachers and the researchers, especially because it was offered at a distance. In spite of the challenges encountered, the experience was very effective and enriching to all those involved and indicated that a successful U-PS partnership is highly dependent on establishing dialogue and collaboration between these agencies and on devising more contextualized and significant teacher education actions and activities.
