This study deals with the processes of integration of immigrant pupils, as well as the attitudes of Spanish students on immigration, some related psychosocial variables. The main objective was to describe the adaptation process of immigrants and identify useful variables for educative action. The theoretical acculturation and ethnic identity is based on Berry (1990). We performed a descriptive, correlational study with a quantitative and qualitative methodology. The adolescent subjects from 12 schools resulting in two samples, N1: 516 natives and N2: 73 immigrants from Latin America, Europe, North Africa and Central and East (N total: 589). Data collection was conducted through interviews (immigrants) and applying questionnaires for both samples. Comparison of means was used to analyze samples Spaniards and immigrants separately and then together with common variables. Analyses were made on the content of the interviews applied to immigrants, to know about the new country assessment and future prospects. The results show that integration prevails, with positive outlook, although the discrimination. Attitudes of the Spaniards toward immigration were favorable. These factors are related to psychosocial variables important to the educational intervention: empathy, the climate of the classroom, the importance perceived contact and self-esteem.
