Abstract

XAVIER-FILHA, Constantina. Production of animation film with and to children: thoughts can become art. Perspectiva [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.3, pp.1091-1112. ISSN 2175-795X.  https://doi.org/10.5007/2175-795X.2015v33n3p1091.

The language of animation films reaches the public and also the taste of children. However, in most cases, children are shut out of the process of producing such films. There are some experiences in Brazil and abroad, where children participate in this process, sometimes experiencing the language, sometimes producing contents. Thinking about the playful, imaginative and creative reach of Cinema, combined with childhood culture, we developed research meetings with children from the 5th years of elementary school in a public school in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, in the course of research supported by CNPq and extension projects in the years 2010-2013. In these meetings, along with issues related to cinematic language, other issues were prioritized to ensure the construction of the narrative of films, among them, gender, sexuality, diversity/difference and violence against children. During the process, we produced along with children scripts, scenes, construction of characters and other processes of production and planning postproduction of the animation films: Jéssica e Júnior no mundo das cores (2010); A Princesa Pantaneira (2012); Queityléia em perigos reais (2012); Direitos das crianças: uma aventura intergaláctica (2013); and João e Maria: dos contos à realidade (2013). This article aims to describe the production process of these films, reflecting on the trajectory of collective production between adults and children in the possibility of producing art, poetry, new forms of subjectivity and problematization of subjects that relate to experiences of childhood.
