The article publicizes doctoral research conducted at the Federal University at Santa Catarina concluded in early 2017, which reflected on the collection of wordless picturebooks among the books selected by the National School Library Program (PNBE) for Early Childhood Education In its four editions (2008, 2010,

2012 and 2014). reflecting about its representation, both quantitatively and qualitatively, seeking to analyze the composition of the collections according to their themes, characters and composition of narratives, perceiving the wordless picturebook as a founder of reading literary experience with a view to sensitizing the eyes. But specifically, thinking about the role of the teacher as a mediator of reading, research can subsidize the teacher to think his practice with the collections of wordless picturebooks that reach the institutions
