Abstract

The article examines the relationship between the trajectories of public finances and the initial salary of teaching professionals of the Parana and Santa Catarina public schools, between 1995 and 2013. Teachers' initial salaries were faced with tax revenues and expenditures for maintenance and development of education for the period of both state governments. Empirical data were extracted from the tables of salaries and financial statements. The analysis suggested setting up a positive relationship with the route of the initial salaries and expenditure in education from the mid-2000s.
