The textbook is present in the collective memory more than other types of books, given its strong presence in the scholars' life. Its wide dissemination goes back to the last quarter of 19th century and is related to important educative changes implemented in many European and American nations. Conceiving the textbook as a physical object and a cultural support produced, valued and consumed for certain uses and contexts (CARBONE, 2003; CHOPPIN, 2004), we have guided, in the present study, by the methodological procedures of documental and bibliographic research. Therefore, we have the purpose of comprehend the courses of high school's textbooks evaluation, specially about the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD) and about the History books. In the textbooks bid invitations corresponding to the 2007, 2012, and 2015 PNLD editions it was chosen to analyze the way the didactic history textbooks are being evaluated. The studies presented here point out that there were significant advances on essential aspects in the last twenty years although there are still much to improve in the didactic textbooks.
