This article has as main objective to understand the research conception of the members of a research group consolidated in the CNPq, from follow up the formative lived experience in the group space. This is a qualitative research, supported by theoretical framework of Habermas’s (2012) Theory of Communicative Action, which used the hermeneutic-reconstructive approach as an interpretation procedure. Collective interviews were held with the seventeen members of the group. As a result, it was observed a significant displacement of the cognitive-instrumental racionality to communicative racionality, in what concerns the understanding of them on what is research. Thus, it is concluded that the reflection carried out in the collective space and the joint actions effected by the members, provided changes in reality of the group and in their conceptions about research.
