The paper aims at analyze critically the process of transnationalization of higher education that has been occurring as a characteristic phenomenon of this century. The understanding that it will be adopted in the text is that the transnationalization is a phenomenon that has been organized with the globalization of the economy and the stage of the financialization of capital. the Insofar as education came to be regarded as a service and knowledge recognized as a productive force, the higher education has become a lever for the development of countries and to be considered an important commodity. The analysis of this phenomenon will be performed considering the position of some multilateral bodies such as the OECD, World Bank and WTO. The strategies adopted by Brazil for the development of the transnationalization will be listed, analyzing the new arrangements that private institutions have been carrying out with foreign entities.
