Abstract

REIS, Juliana Batista dos. Youth experiences of individuation: family and school socialization in biographical narratives. Rev. Educ. Questão [online]. 2019, vol.57, n.53, e17428.  Epub Sep 19, 2019. ISSN 1981-1802.  https://doi.org/10.21680/1981-1802.2019v57n51id17428.

The article analyzes the socializing experiences of the school and family of two young adults who are currently out of school. The production is the result of an ethnographic research with biographical interviews with young people from a peripheral region of the city of Belo Horizonte. We present the family and school experiences of two persons, a young white male and a young black female, through a methodological stance of the sociology of individuals. The life stories are analyzed through two dimensions, necessarily, imbricated: the socializing processes and the ways of individuation. The narratives emphasized common and unique aspects of the identity constructions of individuals, crossed by the intersectionality of gender and race, from their family and school experiences. The text seeks to reveal the importance of understanding of school and family experience , from a juvenile point of view, through the singular writings of life.

Keywords : Youth; School; Socialization; Individuation.
