GIUSTI, Bruna Lima Ramos y VALENTE, Wagner Rodrigues. The professional knowledge of teacher who teaches mathematics: an analysis of a 1950s normalist notebook. Rev. Educ. Questão [online]. 2020, vol.58, n.55, e18921. Epub 29-Ene-2021. ISSN 1981-1802. https://doi.org/10.21680/1981-1802.2020v58n55id18921.
This text analyzes a normalist notebook elaborated in the 1950s, along with the study of a pedagogical reference manual in teacher training, aiming to analyze the professional knowledge of mathematics teachers. The guiding question is given by: What appropriations are made of the manuals, which refer to training courses, incorporated in the textbook of the Normal School student, in order to constitute elements of a teacher's professional knowledge to teach arithmetic in the early school years? In the analysis, theoretical and methodological tools are used in studies on the teacher's professional knowledge, as well as studies from the Cultural History. Categories such as math to teach and math for teaching are mobilized. The results point to elements of the teacher that teaches mathematics’ professional knowledge, present in the notebook, and which are linked to math pedagogy, understood as a set of broad guidelines for teachers. From this formation, through a pedagogy of mathematics, the future teacher, in his pedagogical practice, should elaborate knowledge in order to apply it to the teaching contents of arithmetic.
