Curiosity is a faculty we experience during our childhood and youth. It drives us to look for clues and to ask questions to solve novel events. In this article, we discuss curiosity as a human faculty which emerges energetically in childhood and, based on the analysis of the movie “Scooby Doo! And the Witch’s Ghost”, we propose the meaning of curiosity as a “mystery machine” that moves us to ask questions in search of solutions to what we do not know. We understand that curiosity is constituted as a powerful learning tool, since it is a practice that accompanies the scientific process. We approximate the theoretical directions of Edgar Morin and Paulo Freire by analyzing in the aforementioned movie how curiosity is presented between relations of action, astonishment, question and answer from the dialogue of the characters. The exercise of this faculty, in the context of the movie we chose, can glimpse learning possibilities necessary for an education focused on scientific curiosity in school childhood.
