Abstract

This article deals with the factors that could restrain the drop-out rate in Master’s Programs in Education in Brazil. For a more precise analysis the data relative to the evasion of Master’s students in the Education Program at Unesp/Marília between 1988 and 1995 were used. Inhibiting factors were pointed out ranging from the selection of candidates for the  Master’s Program, through the supervising process, financing, to the evaluation criteria, with special emphasis on the requirement of a dissertation as a final product.
