Abstract

SAUL, Ana Maria. A sistemática de auto-avaliação do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação (currículo) da PUC/SP. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2002, n.26, pp.97-110. ISSN 0103-6831.

This text stems from na invitation to participate in a Seminar on the Evaluation of Post-Graduate Studies at the University of São Paulo in December 2001. It aims at debating the self-evaluation system being developed at the Post-Graduate Program in Education (Syllabus) at the Catholic Universyt in São Paulo. Self-evaluation, as proposed in this paper, has been part of a ten year long debate over the area of Education’s dilemma as to “follow the dictates” of CAPES, complying with the criteria set down for the “hard areas” or resisting the current evaluation model, looking for new forms of organization, which will reveal more meaningful and legitimate roads for Post-Graduate Programs. Self-evaluation is presented as a valuable and viable practice, especially because it is part  of the Program’s routine and is being collectively re-signified by the Program’s teachers and students. This type of evaluation associated with the external evaluation makes up an interesting model in which teachers and students are solidarily engaged in reflecting about their teaching and research practices, aiming at the improvement of the Post-Graduate Program. The text presents the theoretical-methodological framework of the Program’s current self-evaluation practice, based on answers to the following questions: “How are we to understand the process of evaluation?” “Why self-evaluation?” “What should be evaluated?” “Who evaluates?” “How should one evaluate?” The last topic of the article describes the course of this practice, wich is being built and experienced at the Post-Graduate Program.

Keywords : Evaluation; Post-Graduate Studies Evaluation; Self-Evaluation; PUC-SP Evaluation; Syllabus.
