This article offers a discussion of various aspects of educational evaluation and attempts to stimulate other ideas on defining an evaluation policy for the Brazilian educational system. First, it highligts the relationship between evaluation and school planning; it associates the idea of evaluation to an effective action ppolicy and seeks to foster studies about the possibilities of the Criterion Referenced Test.
