This article analyses how the model of competences has been adopted by ten faculty members in Administration undergraduate programs in higher education institutions in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This topic is developed by analyzing the model of competences in the job market and in Brazilian education and then comparing it with the National Curriculum Parameters for the Undergraduate Program in Administration. The survey reveals that most teachers are not acquainted with these Parameters, a fact which has been influencing the teaching of this discipline because of their uncritical approach to the model of competences.
