Achieving competence presupposes a distinct type of work at teaching institutions, mainly because it is necessary to develop the capacity to mobilize different types of knowledge required to solve problems and to face up to unexpected issues in working situations. Consequently, this demands a kind of evaluation based on follow-up and improvement of the education processes which will ensure overcoming difficulties, conquering new learning processes and enhancing capacity for reflection. Based on bibliographical research, this study intends to analyze and reflect on the transformations needed to evaluate the learning process in view of a teaching proposition to form competences in the context of  a project for middle-school professional education of nursing assistants and technicians, the Professional Education  Project of Workers in the Field of Nursing - Profae.
