Abstract

The present text is part of the discussions about the educational cycles and the evaluation of students of public schools, inquiring what they are, what they consist of, which rules they follow, which changes are introduced and which directions are established by Resolution SME nr. 776/2003 to the educational cycles and their assessment. It is argued, on the one hand, that this Resolution, besides being a conservative reaction, reintroduces aspects which are characteristic of the most current neo-technicism, and, on the other hand, that the rhetoric of the SME leads to using the concepts of educational cycles and learning cycles as synonymous, as well as to returning to a pedagogy and an evaluation based on objectives as important elements, which seems to predict an immediate process of control and evaluation of student performance, of teacher action and of school management.
