This article reflects on educational evaluation, specifically the evaluation of schools/systems, by means of a critical qualitative analysis of the Evaluation Program of the Public State School in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This analysis presents revisions and reflections about what has happened in that state regarding education evaluation since the 1990s. The article aims at better understanding the activities, methodologies and strategies developed, identifying critical moments, their repercussions, consequences and the implications of the process.
