This article discusses the use of results of Enade/2008 for the Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry courses of five private institutions of the Federal District, on the basis of data collected through semi-structured interviews with eight coordinators. The actions developed by the coordinators basically concern the discussion of the grades earned by students, and what could make them feel better qualified to take the exam. With that in mind, the coordinators make use, for instance, of preparatory classes and exhibit a behavior in line with what is required by the exam. Larger institutions tend to reveal a greater level of knowledge concerning the purposes of Enade, considering it an auxiliary to their success, whereas smaller institutions seem not to view it as an instrument that may contribute to their own enhancement.
