Abstract

TAVARES, Marialva Rossi. Avaliação de valores sociomorais: procedimentos para a construção de uma escala. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2013, vol.24, n.56, pp.252-272. ISSN 0103-6831.

This article is a report on a research in its pre-test phase for the establishment of a value-oriented assessment scale, based on the Item Response Theory (IRT) methodology, that makes it possible to verify the presence of and commitment to moral values of justice, respect, solidarity and democratic coexistence in middle school children, high school teenagers, and elementary school teachers. The items/questions were put together based on Kohlberg’s theory; whereas the analysis and the revision of the items were based on the Item Characteristic Curves (ICC), plotted on the application of the item calibration guidelines according to the IRT. This revision contains data for the discursive responses (open) obtained by applying the same items, without its altenatives, to a smaller group of students and teachers. One could realize how difficult it was to put together distinctive items and how the analyses of the open responses assist in rephrasing them.

Keywords : Moral Values; Assessment Scale; Kohlberg; Item Response Theory.
