Abstract

VIANA, Odaléa Aparecida. Evaluation of the construction of geometrical figures in basic education. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.63, pp.838-871. ISSN 1984-932X.  https://doi.org/10.18222/eae.v26i63.2835.

The study refers to spatial geometry questions listed in large scale official assessments and analyzes the construction of three-dimensional geometric figures (parallelograms, pyramids, prisms, cylinders and cones). 842 students from the ninth grade and twelfth grades were part of the study. Categories of analysis regarding the developmental levels of the construction of projective notions concerning representative space were formed based on the Piagetian approach. The levels ranged from one (better demonstrated in the construction of the cone), which showed the acquisition of topological notions and the non-identification of the properties of figures, to five (better demonstrated in the construction of the parallelogram), which drawings showed the identification of the main properties and the acquisition of projective and Euclidean relations. The study discusses construction as a way of contributing to the assessment of the properties of geometric spatial figures.
