Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the evidence of content validity of the HOPE Teacher Rating Scale and adapt it to be used in Brazil. It comprises two stages: (i) translation, synthesis, back-translation and review by an expert committee, with the help of translators and expert judges; (ii) semantic analysis by the target audience, with the participation of teachers from different educational levels. It resulted in a first version of the instrument suitable to all educational levels and to the specificities of the Brazilian language and culture, which will be submitted to studies aimed at investigating its psychometric qualities. As it is a concise and easily applied instrument, it is expected that its use will help in the identification of indicators of high abilities/giftedness among Brazilian students.
