This article presents a proposal for an assessment based on the intentional and pedagogi- cal use of student video lesson production processes as a teaching and learning strategy. The text, which describes an activity of the pedagogical intervention type, presents concepts of active methodologies, an exploratory study into student video productions in mathematics, conceptions and forms of assessment, the concept of extended assessment and an experience of student video production supported by extended assessment. The authors believe that extended assessment can be an ally in mathematics teaching and learning processes and suggest tools that can be used in the proposed monitoring of the student video production process.
