Abstract

PINTO, EMILY DE CARVALHO  and  GATTOLIN, SANDRA REGINA BUTTROS. DEVELOPMENT OF LITERACY IN THE EVALUATION OF SPANISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2025, vol.36, e11443.  Epub Oct 22, 2025. ISSN 1984-932X.  https://doi.org/10.18222/eae.v36.11443.

Assessment is essential in education, yet social, political, and ethical aspects are often overlooked in teacher training, leading to low levels of assessment literacy. This article discusses the knowledge, skills, and principles relevant to the development of literacy in language assessment among Spanish teachers in a continuing education program. A qualitative-interpretive study generated data through the use of reflective journals. The findings indicate that the program helped teachers define assessment goals and criteria, highlighting the importance of specific knowledge, skills, and principles for improving the quality of education and promoting more effective and equitable assessment practices.
