Abstracts The lack of an analytical and/or self critical sphere In Black feminism is Michele Wallace s point of departure in her analysis of cultural production by Black women Including herself In the United States Reinterpreting authors like Roland Barthes and Levi Strauss she demonstrates the need for a cultural reading of this production as an act of resistance She concludes that Black feminism s creativity inherently subverts both patriarchal hegemony and white cultural hege mony
