Resumen

SERRANO-NIZA, Dolores. Women's Bodies (De)Colonized According to Assia Djebar. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2020, vol.28, n.2, e60111.  Epub 01-Mayo-2020. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2020v28n260111.

Assia Djebar (1936-2015) is a renowned Algerian writer who wrote in French and was given the honor of being part of the French Academy (2005), an honor that could not be awarded to Maghrebis until then, and very few women had ever obtained. As a novelist, she has been widely studied, although her extensive and intense work has been of particular importance for Gender Studies.

By exploring a recurring theme in Djebar's work, the oppression of women and their bodies in the 20th-century Algerian society, this paper discusses two of her novels: Femmes d'Alger dans leur appartement (1980) and Nulle part dans la maison de mon père (2007). For this, some current theories emanating from feminism will be used here as analytical tools.

Palabras clave : Gender; Feminism; Postcolonialism; Bodies; Assia Djebar.
