Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Leander Cordeiro de et al. Computing Culture Beyond Normativity: Participations and Productions. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.2, e60462.  Epub May 01, 2021. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2021v29n260462.

Computing area can be considered a normative space within gender perspective and despite its social dissemination and the recent gender problematizations that are occurring in the area, discussions about exclusion, invisibility and erasure of historical figures are still incipient issues. Following this reflection, this article intends to question computing culture as constructed by normative people, approaching these questions in a participatory way to promote speech and acting spaces that are related to cultural, practical and philosophical changes in the computing area. These discussions took place in participative workshops where were developed two artifacts as unfolding to promote visibility of historical figures that are disregarded by the normative computing culture, the presentation of computing concepts in a non-gendered way, fomenting debates about gender in computing area.
