Abstract

SILVESTRIN, Julian Pegoraro  and  VAZ, Alexandre Fernandez. Transmasculinities in Sport: Between Dissonant Bodies and Practices. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.2, e79366.  Epub May 10, 2021. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2021v29n279366.

In this paper, we approach sports practices as forms of transmasculine subjectivation. Our basis are the emergence of football and futsal teams composed only by trans men, the presence of transmasculine people in a rugby team which is inclusive for sexual and gender diversities, and the contact with a duathlon athlete. We accomplish this by field research in the city of São Paulo (2019-2020), which included participant observation and interviews. We considered that the trans and LGBTI+ teams are configured as a space for sociability, but also for questioning and building dissident masculinities. Transmasculine bodies and corporealities in sports point to dissonant sports practices.

Keywords : Trans masculinities; Sport; Corporealities.
