Abstract

ANJOS, Luiza Aguiar dos. Tribuna 77 and the Defense of LGBTQI+ in the Stadiums. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.2, e79318.  Epub May 10, 2021. ISSN 1806-9584.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1806-9584-2021v29n279318.

Football is a sport historically associated with men and cis-heteronormative masculinity. The engagement of those who do not fit this model is then surrounded by obstacles. Recently, some supporters’ groups have proposed alternatives to the hegemonic ways of experiencing this sport, intending to make it less exclusive to different groups, including the LGBTQI+ population. In this descriptive text, I analyze the positions on such an agenda by one of these groups, the Grêmio supporters’ group Tribuna 77. I used as sources an interview with one of its members and the publications made on its Facebook page. I found that they defend notions of diversity and plurality based on the assumption that these values are inherent to a ‘culture of Grêmio’, an argument especially endorsed by the previous reception of a gay supporters’ group, Coligay.

Keywords : Football; Supporters’ groups; Homosexuality; Homophobia.
